Vin Hill is an artist and technologist based in Seattle, WA. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Arts and Experimental Media (DXARTS) at the University of Washington in 2012. Hill works in multiple media: music, film, interactive audio and video installations, and network-based systems artworks. His work interrogates the sublime while accepting the answers may be beyond our grasp. Hill composes software built with flexible rules to combine techniques, content, and ideas between mediums to automate various aspects of his work.
As a working artist, Hill supports himself through software development and business analysis while using technology as a means of furthering his art rather than as an end in itself. In his words, "I use computers to act as my agents, performing complicated actions in a coordinated way. The challenge is figuring out what works best conceptually as automation and what doesn't."
Vin Hill has lectured and served as a teaching assistant in Experimental Video classes at the university level. His music is currently available iTunes, Amazon, and Bandcamp under his stage moniker Oyo. Hill was featured on KEXP 90.3 FM's Sonarchy Radio Show in 2010. Hill is a member of the Seattle and Bellevue Storefronts 2013-2014 Installation Artist roster and has exhibited at Slingshot Festival of Music, Electronic Art, Tech, Film and Comedy (Athens, GA) and the Center on Contemporary Art (Seattle, WA).
